The risk of corruption is growing – this is what to do

Multi-national companies are increasingly concerned by corruption and bribery issues.

Multi-national companies are increasingly concerned by corruption and bribery issues. This is shown in a report published by auditing firm KPMG.

Earlier this autumn, Cederquist hosted a seminar on how companies, their management and employees can work to combat corruption and fraud. It's a key subject today when companies are facing increasingly complex challenges in terms of regulation compliance.

Erik Wernberg, one of the speakers at the seminar explainswhy it is it important for companies which come into contact with international environments to be aware of requirements placed on them.

“Never before have there been so many and such large risks associated with running a business. If the rules are not followed, companies risk suffering negative publicity and severe sanctions.

Corruption and the task of its prevention is one of the greatest challenges businesses face today, especially when getting into unknown and high-risk markets.”

What is driving this development?
“The international developments in the area means that increasing requirements are placed on having a considered strategy at the company – something that Cederquist actively works on.”

What should companies which come into contact with international environments keep in mind?
“It's important to be aware of the requirements placed upon the business, and what action is required in order to prevent and counteract irregularities.”
